No new pictures (yet) as there have been no new adventures (yet). Soon I'll be going to Washington, maybe drive up the coast?... we shall see. I'll have a visitor here in Oregon soon (hopefully VERY soon, as I cant wait!!!) Im so excited.
This promotion is killing me.... Work a day shift one week... work overnights the next, go back to a day shift, and back on overnights again.... we shall see what the following week is going to be... and all the while it's physically exhausting as its all manual labor... sigh .. I have no pretty nails left, my body is black and blue and greenish... and so many cuts on my hands they're forever red...

And so it begins...
A new chapter.. I won't call it an adventure... I wouldn't wish this on anyone. BUT its time to put on my big girl pants and face it head on and do whats right. Telling my roommates was hard, but they are very understanding and helpful. And Im scared but not as bad...

St. John's Bridge
South end of the St. John's Bridge is Cathedral Park. In the summer of '49, a fifteen year old girl was murdered under the bridge. Reports go that every summer in the late evenings, screams can be heard, but when the police show up, there is no one around.. So sad. But it's a beautiful park..

Cemetery Ramblings..
SO I've been on a kick to visit old historic cemeteries. So far as I know, Portland has quite a few. I visited the Lone Fir on a great evening. There was a Twilight Ceremony going on when I went. There were Buddhist Chanters that sprinkled petals and holy water over what's known as Block 14 so the spirits there would be at rest. Back in the day, Chinese immigrants that died were buried there temporarily until they could be sent back to China. However, not all made it back. The city decided to excavate and get rid of the bones and built a government building on top of the site know known as Block 14. After a big fight, members of the cemetery were able to prove there were still bones underneath and the city had to give it back.
The tombstones themselves were very old and really neat. One in particular is supposed to be well known for its carving. A picture of the couple was taken and carved into a great piece.
Today I also went to Columbian Cemetary in North Portland. It's a very small cemetery where I guess not many people visit.. So said the man who was walking his dog when I stopped and asked for directions. When I say small, I mean small. There were a few trees and a small hedge garden but not that many headstones. There were mainly placards, most could not be read anymore. Sadder still, it seemed to be a baby cemetery. The majority of markers were all babies or kids under 10 years old. Many were twins who had died on the same day of their birth, or a few days apart. It's pretty well kept for an old cemetery, but the website talks about financial struggles. The cemetery is owned by the family of the people buried there and funds are limited.

Lights!!
My nightmare was overshadowed by the vibrant colors... OH MY GOD THE COLORS!!!! I was lost somewhere up north, but I was close enough to see the Northern Lights. There was a waterfront park and marina and also some kind of crater that all pretty much glowed under the lights.. it was amazing, We will skip the other parts of the dream :)
The Auroras are definitely on my "Things to see before I die" list .

Sooo.... I didnt miss my flight, but I did...
So I get to the airport and go to print my boarding pass, and the lady said I was too late. Boarding was about to begin and I wouldnt get through in time. So she said she was going to get me on the next flight out, which would have been sunday at 7 am. So she does her thing and prints up a boarding pass.. I was pretty bummed about having missed my flight and I just kinda glanced at it and ran back outside to try and catch my family before they got too far.. Doop doop, about a half hour later Im back at my brothers and decided to look up the flight info to be sure... TURNS OUT I DIDNT MISS THE FLIGHT TO BEGIN WITH, THE BOARDING PASS WAS FOR MY ORIGINAL FLIGHT!! So i freak out, try calling the airlines and get this giant runaround. So I borrow my brothers car and decide to go down to the airport and deal with someone in person. Mind you, both my brother and sister in law were kinda leery about letting me go. They were afraid I would go ape shit and get arrested..lol But I go down there, wait in line for a while and tell my tale of woe to the ticket lady and after a bit of asking around, she sets me up with the next flight out.. No charge.. I was so happy I almost cried. I was ready to have to fight up a storm due to the fact that it was a US Airways lady that had made the ticket mistake in the first pace, but I was told to go to United Airlines cuz they were the original ticket seller... 4 hours later, I have my new ticket and am supposed to get to sleep soon.. The lady was so nice, she asked if I was gonna have to sleep at the airport or if I had a place to go.. I was tempted to just sleep there, but Ill just wake up super early. :))))) I get to go back to Portland !!

Also, today I got to hang out with my folks. We hung out in the afternoon, and by the time the sun really really came out, it was nap time.. Ahh yes, just like old times :) My mom and little bro and I went out for breakfast this morning and had a blast. I swear I dont know how I've never gotten us kicked out of any places yet. We were laughing so hard I was afraid my little bro was gonna choke on his food. good times :)
Today was fun! I got to see most of night crew, although I was sad I didnt get to see Ted or Jim, but I shall be back tomorrow for the 5 am break. I also had the please of torturing Maria's daughter Ivanka or whatever her name is.....lol So shes all pissed off that a school bus was stopped in a red zone and decided to tell ME about it and bitch and complain.. I told her she should call the police cuz shes right, thats not fair! No one was above the law and she shouldnt stand for it!! She said she would, but she didnt have the number...Im like, uhhh, 911??... So Im laughing and she walked away all pissed off and telling me I shouldnt be laughing... Ahhh good times...I hope she goes back tomorrow.... :) On a sad note, I guess the store really sucks... Jason, the most pessimistic and most angry employee, asked me very nicely to please come back to the store....I said wow, things must REALLY be bad if Jason is asking.... :)

Phoenix Trip!!
HOORAY!! I know I haven't been here that long, but I get to go home for a few days tomorrow! I'm excited and kinda not at the same time! The heat...! Oh noes! But I get to see my little brother graduate High School *eek* and hang out with my bestest buds. :) I hope I don't get tackled by airport security, cuz that would suck. I wouldnt be able to take any pictures of it, being on the floor and all... :) see you soon!

Adventures in Waffle Land
SO today I go for my waffle, but the street was so busy I had to park a couple blocks into this neighborhood. I didnt even think to look at the street name or corner or any defining feature. I just went for the kill. The yummy waffle was calling my name... 15 min later, Im holding the damn waffle and wandering the mean streets of hippie town looking for my car. By the time I realize I can use the gps and retrace my steps, I found the car. :) right where I left it. I still dont know the name of the street... bastard, On the upside tho, I did see a gangster today! I was honking and waving and trying to throw up any gang sign I could remember, but I think I ended up just looking retarded. He was driving a Regal, for crying out loud, with blue metallic paint. Thats just a damn time warp right there! And you have to understand why this was a big deal for me.. Since I've been here, there have been nothing but hippies and hipsters and military rejects around. So hooray! for something new!
